With great sadness and a heavy heart the family and staff of Maz Mezcal Mexican Restaurant announce the passing of its founder, Mr.Eduardo T. Silva from cardiac arrest. After completing his duties in the 101st Airborne, Eduardo, along with his father, started a series of restaurants that culminated in the opening of El Sombrero in 1972 on East 86th Street. In 1987 El Sombrero closed due to construction and Eduardo and his wife Maria opened Maz Mezcal at its present location. Eduardo loved working with his staff everyday to serve his community. He was a devoted husband, adoring father and a beloved “Papa” to his second family consisting of generations of staff members.
